Your Hope is Here
December 08, 2011
Hi,

Real Hope
Salt & Light Volume IV, Issue 37 by D Scott Prindle

"It all begins with a Jewish priest, Zechariah, who lived when Herod was king of Judea." (Luke 1:5 NLT)

With Advent season upon us, we reflect once more on the "Christmas Story".

It has a lot to do with your story. It begins when you least expect it.

Zachariah and Elizabeth certainly hoped for children. But were they expecting John the Baptist?

Now aged well beyond child bearing years we find them still being faithful to their calling. Then the angel appears and the blessing of God is realized. Hope is fulfilled.

What Are You Hoping For?
Three things from Zachariah and Elizabeth's story will encourage you.

  • First, they were descendants of Abraham. They were the Promised Ones living in the Promised Land. They were filled with hope based on a promise from God who does not break His promises.

You are no different. You are God's Promised One! "And if you are Christ's, then you are Abrahams seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:29).

  • Second, they were righteous and blameless before God. You are too! "What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;" (Romans 9:30).
  • Third, they were living the lives they were meant to live and being faithful in their calling.

These three truths are evidence of things hoped for.

The Question Remains
"Am I living the life I was meant to live and am I being faithful to my calling?"

True hope empowers you to continue to do the work you are called to do regardless of your circumstances.

While you wait expectantly for your desire to be fulfilled, "May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace." (Romans 15:13)
