Hang In There
Salt & Light Volume IV, Issue 38 by D Scott Prindle

"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." (Galatians 6:9)

hanging lights Christmas Lights
Stringing lights begins with finding that one bulb in a hundred that keeps all the others from shining.

Did we mention raw fingers from pulling out each little bulb to see if it's "the one".

How many times has it been close to the last bulb! Why didn't we start on that end?

Hope Deferred?
The Jews had been living over 400 years without hearing from God. Zechariah and Elizabeth had been married decades without a child.

Where was the Lord? Had He abandoned them and their people? What was the use of praying for a son any longer?

Hope was but a memory of light that once flickered.

The dull, the routine, the mundane of daily life is where God remembers. With one more act of service left in his waning life, Zechariah burned incense in the Temple.

Tree of Life
Suddenly Gabriel appears. The prayer was heard. The promise is fulfilled. Joy and gladness break forth.

That dead bulb is replaced and the light bursts forth. The glory shines all around.

The path of a disciple is narrow and difficult. Your daily work can be hard and painful at times, without a lot to show.

You go through many bulbs and no light. Life gets raw. You will feel like you're about to faint.

Don't. Keep going.

Your light will shine. You will have joy and gladness. Many will rejoice with you as your life becomes fruitful.
