Blessed Are the Merciful
Salt & Light Volume V, Issue 40 by D. Scott Prindle

"The merciful man does good for his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh." (Proverbs 11:17)

mercy Pillar of Mercy
We once had a customer who could be a real pain in the rear. Not too many folks liked being around him. He was arrogant, selfish, inconsiderate, and sickly sweet to get what he wanted.

Many times we wanted to say, "Try down the street. We can't help you."

Mercy is grace extended to others that results in acts of kindness and forbearance in direct opposition to what they actually deserve.

Sow Mercy, Reap Mercy
Being merciful to those who deserve to be taught a lesson is difficult. But because we will all need mercy at some point in our lives, it is wise to show mercy to others.
"But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." (Mark 11:26)

Entrepreneurs learn this.

"Mercy is not
getting what
you deserve!"

As you express mercy and forgiveness to others, especially to the least among you, God is merciful to you through others. Maybe through a supplier, a banker, or even a judge.

You would not want to rely on your own merit and get what you truly deserve, would you?

Mercy is not getting what you deserve!

In the business world there are plenty of mistakes made. Wouldn't you like to know that mercy will be extended to cover you when you need it? Remember to be merciful to others when they need it.

Take Action
Make some time to ask yourself, "Who do I resent, and why? Have I in turn hurt others?" Find a way to forgive, and consider whether or not you need to go to another and ask for their forgiveness.

Confess your faults to yourself, God and another. Receive forgiveness and healing. It has been said, "By confessing your sin to God, He forgives you. By confessing your sin to another, He heals you." ~anonymous.

"The quality of mercy is not strained. It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest: It blesseth him that gives and him that takes."
~William Shakespeare from The Merchant of Venice
