So Cool, Snowmen are Cheering
Salt & Light Volume II, Issue 36 by D. Scott Prindle

"because, although they knew God, they did not glorify God, nor were thankful..." (Romans 1:21)

Puritan Legacy
freedom from want, norman rockwell In 1966 South Congregational Church presented me with my first Bible. I was eight years old. Ten years later I began to read it for the first time.

The message contained within changed my life when I confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.

I will be forever grateful that Christians from another world in a different time had the same faith. Their desire to glorify God led them to leave their homeland in search of a new place so they could worship God freely.

In 1621 the Puritans landed in Massachusetts. With much hardship, their faith enabled them to endure after losing half their family members the first winter.

The following year the 53 survivors had a feast of thanksgiving that today we tie to our modern holiday. What a legacy.

Life Changing Vision
That's not why I'm thankful today. It's for another reason. These same Puritans worshiped the God of the Bible.

They came together to establish the Congregational Church in Plymouth... the same church that, 345 years later, gave me my first bible which changed my life. How cool is that!

Did they have the vision to understand what God would do through their faith? They must have. Why else would they sacrifice so much to glorify God?

Today, millions of lives have been impacted through their faith and God's power.

Faith at Work
What about you? Do you have the vision to see what God will do through you? Are you part of a community of faith that will make a difference in people's lives 300 years from now? Are you doing business everyday with this kind of faith?

Although you may not know the person whose life will be changed down the road, you can be certain that God wants to use your faith the same way He used the Puritans. Now that's something to be thankful for.

Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!
