Are You Engaged?
Salt & Light Volume III, Issue 3 by D. Scott Prindle

"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).

Abundant Life
skiing Laurie and I began a new adventure together. Ski Racing! Actually it's not new for me at all, but for my wife it is.

I ski raced for many years and coached nearly twenty-five seasons. Laurie has done only a couple of fun races.

It's all part of staying fully engaged in life. We're getting physical activity, connecting with other people, sharpening our mental focus and activating our faith.

A large part of our business is meeting new people and seeing if they have a need for what we have to offer while having some fun in the process.

Abundant life is being fully engaged in life. Being fully engaged means being:

  • Physically Energized
  • Emotionally Connected
  • Mentally Focused
  • Spiritually Aligned
with a purpose beyond yourself... something bigger than ordinary.

Building a business (or career) has to be more than just about money. We all need income, but we also need purpose. How can your business connect you to a purpose?

Life is Work
One way is by seeing your work as your ministry. "My father is always at his work to this very day, and I too, am working" (John 5:17).

Jesus came to live in you and through you. He demonstrated His love for you in His everyday work.

Consider that in the New Testament of Jesus' 132 public appearances, 122 were in the marketplace. Of 52 parables Jesus told, 45 had a workplace context. Of 40 miracles in the book of Acts, 39 were in the marketplace.

Work is Sacred
Your business is your connection to people. You are their connection to Jesus. Never think of your daily work as anything less than a holy calling.

This will keep you fully engaged... experiencing the abundant life He came to give you.
