Virtue or Vice
Salt & Light Volume X, Issue 26 by D. Scott Prindle

"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things." (Philippians 4:8)

You can look up into the sky in any direction and see nothing but brilliant blue with the bright sun illuminating every part of the green landscape beneath it. This is summer in the Tetons.

In stark contrast, today is a dark day. Clouds have moved in and it looks like rain.

Reminds us a bit of what the emotional landscape of Marketplace Ministry can be like. Every now and then there may be a dark day, a tendency to dwell on all the troubles you face.

We're reminded how important it is to stay focused on the good.

Biblical Meditation
What you think about is what you bring about.

Here's a little exercise we do that may help you keep your focus where it needs to be. You can call it your "Gratitude List".

Any day you're feeling a little blue, write down things that are positive in your life. Take time to look at all the things you've written previously and meditate on them.

It turns a dark rainy day from something negative to something positive. The dry ground is refreshed. The air is cleared. Things don't seem so bad anymore. There may even be a rainbow in the clouds.

You will be better equipped to keep reaching forward for those things which are ahead, the chief of which is Christ Himself.

You'll be encouraged to stay committed to your goal of a lifetime of ministry through your work, especially on those days it's tempting to quit.
